Introduction text 1

Introduction text 2

The purpose of “East Asian Cultural Cities” is to promote mutual understanding and solidarity among East Asian countries and to strengthen international communication by selecting cities in Japan, China and South Korea that aim for sustainable urban development through culture and art, and holding various cultural and artistic events throughout the year. Since its inaugural year in 2014, this event has been held in Yokohama, Niigata, Nara, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Toshima-ku(Tokyo) and Kitakyushu in Japan, and Oita Prefecture has been selected to host the event in 2022. It is hoped that Okinawa will host the event in the future. We would like to invite key persons in cultural administration from Korea and Japan to talk about the significance of holding this event and the promotion of culture in Asia, and also to exchange opinions in order to open up the future of East Asian Cultural Cities.
