Prospects for Youth and Children’s Theater in Asia

In recent years, Asia has experienced rapid growth, with economic development accompanying social maturity. When it comes to harnessing rapport among Asian countries, human interactions and cultural exchanges are extremely important. For that, International Theater Festival OKINAWA for Young Audiences has emphasized international collaboration since its inception. In particular, co-productions with Asian artists are continuously planned, as connecting Asian artists is of great importance. For children and young people in Asia, the potential for theater is infinite. So, what kind of stage art is expected? For this symposium, we will invite experts on cultural policies from different countries to discuss the potential of Asia and both the current and future state of stage art.
