SHO JO JI

The Edo Marionette Group
Japan
Age: 9+| Duration: 45 mins| In Japanese (no subtitles)

We have prepared 4 dances and puppet commentaries in between, as well as a "small" play at the end for you to enjoy the rich expressions of the puppets with the most unique structure. "Kappore" and "A Drunkard" are both male puppet dance but with very different movements. "Black Hair" is a female puppet dance with singing, which may be a little difficult to understand but we hope you will enjoy it imagining how people in the past saw and enjoyed it. The last dance is "Lion Dance" with animal puppets, in which you can see another very different style of puppet manipulation. The final "small" play is SHO JO JI. Find out how "small" it is. It is a fun performance with many surprises!
